This extension downrod is suitable for Spitfire DC or Ambience Uplight Fans, both with and without lights. Depending on your ceiling height, you may need a longer downrod to bring your ceiling fan closer to the floor for improved performance. Australian Safety Standards require the blades of your ceiling fan to be at least 2.1m (210 cm) from the floor. Connecting a longer downrod will typically result in better air flow.
For standard ceilings (2.4m to 2.8m), the included downrod should suffice.
Low ceilings (2.4m) should refer to the fan's data sheet to ensure a minimum ceiling to blade clearance of 2.1m.
For ceilings between 2.9m and 3.7m, a 90 cm downrod is recommended, and ceilings between 3.9m and higher should use a 180 cm downrod. Both of these may need to be cut to size; as a rule of thumb, aim for the fan blade to be between 240cm and 270cm from the floor.
